We have shared a few of the questions we hear most often from our patients, but your smile is unique so you probably have some of your own. If you don't see your question here, please don't hesitate to call our office or fill out our convenient online contact form.

Teeth Whitening

When supervised by a dentist, teeth whitening is perfectly safe. The stories you hear about burning or sensitivity are usually related to a user being too aggressive with store-bought products or those purchased online. Peroxide contained in these whiteners can lead to damage like gingivitis and oversensitivity of the gums. If you overdo it with products like whitening strips, you also risk wearing down the layer of enamel that protects the rest of your tooth.

It can be tempting to go with store-bought whiteners because they are so readily available. But you won’t have the benefit of consulting a professional if you encounter a problem. Also, over-the-counter whiteners typically use a generic boil-and-bite tray that may not fit properly, allowing the whitening gel to come into contact with the gums, causing sensitivity and pain.

If you are going to put effort into whitening, you owe it to yourself to check out professional treatments at our Wellington, OH dental office. We offer both in-office treatments and convenient take-home kits complete with customized whitening trays.

With professional teeth whitening products, you have peace of mind knowing that your dentist is overseeing your treatment, and if something goes wrong, we’re here to help. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of professional whitening, please call us and we will be happy to arrange an appointment to meet with you and discuss your needs.
